Hisar Artist in Residence Program

The Hisar Artist-in-Residence Program (Hisar AiR) aims to build lasting and nurturing connections between artists and the school community, grounded in the belief that art and education are inseparable.

Launched in Hisar School’s 30th year, the program seeks to shape a future-oriented vision inspired by the institution’s history. Positioning art at the heart of school life, this initiative not only supports contemporary artistic production but also aims to strengthen Hisar’s cultural memory by creating lasting works and an artistic legacy that will serve as an archive.

Hisar AiR offers artists a creative environment in which they can produce work on campus and lead workshops. In this context, it enables artists and writers to engage with students, teachers, and the school’s cultural life, and aims for the resulting individual and collaborative works, performances, or texts to leave a lasting imprint on the school’s collective memory.

2025-26 Academic Year Theme: Deep Thinking & Research

This year, the Hisar AiR Program invites proposals from visual artists exploring the concepts of Curiosity, Play, and Focus under the 2025–26 academic year theme “Deep Thinking & Research.”

Program Scope & Expectations

The first edition of the Hisar AiR Open Call is open to artists working professionally in the field of visual arts. Selected artists will develop and produce a project using the facilities provided by the school, conduct workshops collaboratively with students and the school community, share their work and workshop outcomes through one or more of the following formats:

  • Exhibition or permanent installation
  • Presentation, talk, or artist lecture

At the end of the residency, artists are expected to produce a work that will remain as part of the Hisar School Art Archive, contributing to the long-term cultural memory of the institution.
